Anno-High School Siegburg - topping-out ceremony after only 10 weeks
Düsseldorf. Guests of honor, construction workers and students shivered in icy wind at the Anno-High School construction site in Siegburg as the topping-out wreath was hoisted to the top of the sports hall.
According to old tradition, foreman Andreas Hauser made the topping-out speech. For that purpose he climbed up on the scaffolding together with construction manager Martin Zindler. They drank one sip to the client, one to the colleagues and one sip to the architect. After the third sip the shot glass shattered. One thing is certain: The construction of the sports hall and the building extension of 21 new classrooms are under a lucky star.
That confirmed also the CEO of Sport StadiaNet Michael Tockweiler: "Despite of icy temperatures we are currently on schedule". Construction workers sensitively proceed. Noise intensive works are shifted to the late afternoon, in order not to disturb the school lessons.
The advanced energy technology has already disappeared under the ground. 37 probes of the geothermal system that supplies the school with energy are located at a depth of 130 meters. Above ground, apparently a lot has happened since the groundbreaking 10 weeks ago. The sport hall meets the latest standards in terms of energy efficiency and supply.
The structure of the hall including the trapezoidal sheet metal roof is finished. In the spring starts the interior construction to be completed in the summer. In the autumn two small fields for soccer and basketball will be added. The 15 meters broad climbing wall will be the jewel of the hall. A planned extension of the school includes music and art area and a media center. The Anno High School can praise itself to be one of the few schools with an elevator. In the future, each classroom will be attainable with an elevator by wheelchair users.
After the event all parties concerned could warm up in a heated tent and have a small lunch.
